ACTIVITIES DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2009
1. Borderlands PDP organized a program for the Joint Student Platform The Joint Student Platform, with support from DEMO-Finland, took part in a program organized by Borderlands PDP. The three-day program, organized from August 7-9, 2009 at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort, saw participation from 17 people. The three main objectives of the program were: to assist in developing strategic planning, team building and having fun. The participants were members of the various student unions of Nepal and their sister organizations.
Throughout the program, the participants actively participated in the various games and initiatives, which was fun but at the same time taught them various important skills like: trust, support, good verbal and non-verbal communication, leadership, teambuilding skills etc. The program also included a visit to Tatopani Hot Spring and Abseiling, a fun game that teaches the importance of trust, support and coordination in a team.
Overall, the program was considered to be a huge success and the participants gained knowledge about working together in a team even though they were from diverse backgrounds. They said that they also learnt a lot of things during the Borderlands PDP program that can be applied and practiced in their daily life.
2. Students rejuvenate themselves at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort
45 students from Balkumari National College spent time at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort from August 28-29, 2009. Apart from having fun, bonding with each other and enjoying themselves, the Grade 11 students also participated in team building exercises. In addition, they undertook a short hike and went up to Tatopani Hot Spring as well.
