December 2008-Highlights
1. Lincoln School’s Leadership Development Program- Grade 12 students from Lincoln School participated in the Leadership Development Program organized from December 1-5, 2008 at the Borderlands Resort. There were 25 participants including 21 students and 4 teachers. They were divided into 3 groups and each group had a different theme: birds, flora and fauna respectively. The participants learnt to trust, motivate, support, coordinate, plan, communicate, time management skills and leadership skills during the program. Various adventurous activities like trekking, abseiling, rafting etc were organized for the participants.
2. Lincoln School’s Environmental Study on Bagmati Watershed - Grade 7 students from Lincoln School took part in an Environmental Study program about the Bagmati Watershed which took place from December 1-5, 2008 at Sundarijal. The students were divided into 5 groups namely: Flora, Fauna, River, Rock and Human and each group focused on different aspect of nature like their name suggested. Hiking, Bird- watching, Geological tours were some of the highlights of the program.
3. Team Building/ Staff Retreat for UN-OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) - A Team Building/ Staff Retreat was organized for UN-OCHA from December 11-13, 2008. The program, organized at Hotel Shangrila, Pokhara, saw participation from 30 members and was considered a huge success as the participants were able to hone their team building skills in addition to other vital characteristics necessary for the success of an organization namely: trust, planning, coordination and leadership.
4. S N Power’s One Day Team Building Event- The one day team building event organized for S N Power took place on December 17, 2008 at the Gokarna Golf Resort. There were 19 participants in the program. The main objective of the program was to enhance qualities such as: leadership, communication, trust, planning coordination etc among the participants so that they can better work as a team in achieving their organization’s objectives. Some of the participants were skeptical at first about the whole program but by the end of the day all of them admitted that the team building event was fun filled yet very educational. They said that the lessons learnt during the day would very much assist them in their respective work in their organization.
5. Happy Children’s Trust’s Christmas Retreat- Happy Children’s Trust Christmas Retreat took place from December 26-28, 2008. There were 55 participants and the event took place at the breathtaking Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort. The main objective of this program was to offer the orphaned children staying at the Happy Children’s Trust a fun filled Christmas while at the same time teaching them leadership skills essential in their daily lives.
6. New Year Party 2009 at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort- A New Year Party was organized to welcome the New Year 2009 at the spectacular Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort which is situated on the banks of the mighty Bhote Koshi River, one of the most exciting whitewater rivers of Nepal. The party, organized on December 31, 2008, was a huge success.
