Introduction
WELCOME TO THE BORDERLANDS GROUP’S january NEWSLETTER!
We, at Borderlands, hope that January went very well for you all, as it did for us! Apart from taking part in travel summits and brainstorming through endless meetings to further enhance our services, we were busy preparing ourselves and strengthening our team’s capacity to provide better services to our clients as the coming months will be quite busy with the various Programs that are lined up. In addition, we also have a couple of staff retreats for reputed companies lined up for the following months. We might have a staff retreat of our own as well !
The weather is getting slightly warmer in Kathmandu and with the assurance of spring that will soon be here, we are getting a lot of reservations and enquiries for rafting and trekking for our sister companies (Ultimate Descents Nepal and Nature-treks.com). Overall, it seems that the coming months will be good for us as our clients have, by now, understood that we never compromise on the quality of our services even though there are many obstacles to overcome as Nepal is still in its transition phase.
Constructive criticism and suggestions are always welcome from our valued readers, clients, friends and fellow people!
January 2009-Highlights
1. Youth Initiative’s Civic Leadership School (CLS) – The Borderlands Group organized a program for Youth Initiative from January 23-25, 2009 at the Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort. There were a total of 25 participants in the program, which primarily focused on team building, leadership, motivation, trust, communication, coordination, support and time management aspects. The program also tried to show, through various fun filled games, the importance of the right man for the right job, without which it is impossible to achieve mutual goals.
2. Bird Watching and Rock Climbing Event- The Borderlands Group organized a bird watching and rock climbing event for its staffs on January 29, 2009. 25 participants participated in the day long event which was organized at the Nagarjun Hill. The event was very interesting and knowledgeable as it provided a lot of information regarding the various species of birds found in the area. Long tail Minivet, which falls among the top 10 beautiful birds found in Nepal, was also seen at Nagarjun. It was a very fun filled and entertaining event as the employees also tried their hands at rock climbing.
Forthcoming Programs
1. Borderlands Staff Retreat Program- An in-house staff retreat program for the Borderlands staff is lined up for February 2009 and the tentative date for the event is the 6th of February. All the employees are expected to participate in the program which will be a much needed break from the hectic life of the Kathmandu valley. The program is also expected to have some games that can enhance team building, communication, leadership and trust among the participants.
