Introduction

WELCOME TO THE BORDERLANDS GROUP’S MAY NEWSLETTER!

Seems like the monsoon is already here, much earlier than expected! The rain is a welcome relief from the hot summer days and due to the rain, one can see a lot of greenery which makes the countryside lush and beautiful. This season is best for indulging in adventure activities like: high altitude trekking to Mustang & Dolpa, rafting in the Trishuli River or you can also try your hands on milder activities like: bird watching. We, at the Borderlands, offer all these activities. The Borderlands Eco Adventure Resort (www.borderlandresorts.com) saw quite a number of reservations. Ultimate Descents Nepal (www.udnepal.com) also received a good number of bookings for the multi-adventure tourism activities. Nature-treks.com/ Himalaya (www.nature-treks.com), on the other hand, was busy working on updating its website.

For information about the various multi-adventure tourism activities that we offer or if you want to make a reservation, please feel free to contact us.

Constructive criticism and suggestions are always welcome from our valued readers, clients, friends and fellow people!

SUMMER ADVENTURES

1. Blast at Monsoon Flows: Trishuli- The Trishuli, merely a hop, skip and a jump away from Kathmandu or Pokhara, will surely quench your desire for Nepalese whitewater adventure. The river gets even bigger in the monsoon. If you want to have a rafting experience in high water, please contact us so we can customize a rafting trip for you or else you can also be a part of our regular departures. We have scheduled departures on June 17, and 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, August 5, 12, 19 and 26, September 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, October 7 and 14.

2. Upper Mustang- A trek to the forbidden Kingdom of Mustang – This is the perfect time to trek to Upper Mustang, which is located in the extreme fringe of Northern Nepal bordering with Tibet. Mustang is a fantastic geographic region that should be visited at least once in a lifetime. Lo Manthang, the fortified town in Mustang is a spectacular place with uniquely colourful landscapes. The major attraction of this remote district is that it still has a king who is well respected. The region is very much influenced by the culture and tradition of Tibet and prospered during the salt trade between Nepal and Tibet. We visit many of the principal villages and have a day to explore the ancient capital town of Lo Manthang while following the Drovers’ trail through the heart of the Kingdom and crossing passes that are up to 4000 metres.

This trek is best done in 2 weeks time and is good during the spring and summer season (March- September). For a detailed itinerary please contact us at naturetreks@borderlandsgroup.com.
