Introduction WELCOME TO THE BORDERLANDS GROUP’S NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER! With the prospects of having an early and cold winter, the need to lobby to counteract the various factors that contribute to climate change has increased. The snow-capped Himalayas, which Nepal is famous for, looks barren without the snow- a bitter truth of climate change. As a responsible tourism company, the Borderlands Group (www.borderlandsgroup.com) has initiated various measures that assist in the preservation and conservation of the natural environ in which it operates. Through this newsletter, the Group, in its own simple way, wants to encourage people to take corrective measures before it is too late. The Borderlands Group already lobbies for the preservation of rivers in Nepal through Nepal River Conservation Trust (NRCT). In addition, Borderlands Group, through specific rafting trips, contributes a dollar to NRCT, an organization that plays an active role in the preservation and conservation of rivers in Nepal as well as globally. The Borderlands Group appeals to everyone to become aware about the impact of climate change and to act now to avoid further deterioration of the environment. 1. UNICEF’s Radio Team takes part in a Team Building Program Borderlands PDP organized a Team Building Event for 6 staff from UNICEF’s Radio Team from November 4-6, 2009. Staff Training Program organized for Borderlands Staff On November 10, 2009, a day-long training program was organized for the managerial staff of the Borderlands Group. Team Building Program organized for Nepal National Football Team 30 participants from the Nepal National Football Team took part in a Team Building Program on November 20, 2009. World Bank Nepal’s Staff Retreat Program concludes 80 staff from World Bank Nepal took part in a 4 day Staff Retreat program organized from November 22-25, 2009 at Dhulikhel.
