The ‘Borderlands/Gokarna Forest Resort- High Rope Course’ activities are customarily challenging, physical, team building exercises which take place two meters above the ground and involve some form of belay or safety ropes. High rope is a combination of both vertical and horizontal challenges constructed from wood, cable and ropes installed above the ground and strung between trees.

High Rope activities tend to be for individual climbing but there are some High Rope activities such as V Cool and Crazy ladder which require pairs of people to climb together and help one another. High Rope activities often involve participants, who are not climbing, to take responsibility for belaying, communicating and supporting someone else who is climbing. In this way, High Rope Courses can also be used to develop compassion, empathy, communication and cooperation amongst group members.

Rope course advocates claim that they meet a number of educational, developmental, and recreational goals. High Rope course generally focuses on personal achievements and asks participants to confront their personal fears and anxieties. Challenges may be physical and/or emotional. In certain cases, high element programs involve the development and mastery of technical skills to manage rope belay systems used to secure other climbers as they move through the course. In such cases, outcomes often include exploring the fundamentals of trust, craftsmanship, and coaching. Programs using high rope course elements or group initiatives are most often designed to explore group interaction, problem-solving, and leadership.

The High Rope Course can be tailored to suit the client’s requirements and facilitated to accommodate a wide spectrum of group dynamics. The course involves a series of five activities that focus on the participant’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual capabilities. The High Rope Course teaches individuals to take risks, challenge their perceived limits, teach them to perform under pressure, give and receive support from team members and work collaboratively to achieve more than what they thought they could accomplish. The Rope Course also tends to focus on confronting one’s fears, increase self-confidence, enhance self esteem, develop communication and cooperation amongst group members etc.

The value of ropes course use is recognized in a broad range of activities including education, recreation, therapy, and organizational development. The Ropes Course is used in conjunction with the Professional Development Programs, Team Building Events and School Programs organized by the Borderlands Group.

Borderlands Group, pioneer of the High Rope Course in Nepal, has taken measures to ensure that the safety of its clients is not compromised under any circumstances and is certain that its participants will have an ‘Inspiring Experience’.
